HUMAN RESOURCES
A myriad of responsibilities falls under the aegis of this unit. The core mission of this department is to identify, recruit, train and retain best knowledge employees and at ensuring that the goals of these individuals are in line with those of the organisation. Other key objectives include the adopting of policies, procedures and programmes that support Harel Mallac Group’s vision and mission. The coordination of these various activities is done by adhering to a people-centered and customer-focused philosophy. The department also administers the company’s retirement and medical schemes.

LEGAL DEPARTMENT & COMPANY SECRETARIAT
The strategic purpose of this unit is to endow/empower decision makers belonging to the different business units of the group with legal guidance. The drafting and approval of contracts, the identification and notification of legal implications before acquisition decisions are made, counselling in litigation matters and the elaboration of strategies to guard against legal risks are its chief functions. Operating under the legal entity of HM Secretaries Ltd, the Company Secretariat has the objective of ensuring that the boards and comply with related legal, statutory and regulatory requirements. This dual department is also the one that ensures that good corporate governance principles are adhered to and followed by all relevant legal entities.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATION
The Group Marketing and Communication department is actively involved in the nurturing and the proactive internal and external communication of the Group’s corporate image and identity and in helping business units and subsidiaries in their respective marketing and promotional endeavours. From strategy definition to message identification and medium selection, the department acts an internal communication agency.

FINANCE
Headed by the Group Financial Controller who is answerable for all accounting and finance issues of the corporate head office and is responsible of the implementation of the Group Financial Policies with observance of the rules listed in the Financial Procedures Manual. Other duties of this division include the consolidation of the Group’s accounts and the management of the treasury function. The entity also ensures that compliance and sound governance rules are abided by the Group and its related entities and partakes in the appraisal of novel endeavours. Another vital responsibility of this department lies in supporting Financial Controllers of the SBUs.

TOTAL QUALITY
The purpose of the quality function is the effective development and utilisation of human potential/talent/s, knowledge, and organisational systems to augment the capability of Harel Mallac to continually change for the better and renew itself/ constantly improve and reengineer itself to meet the demands of the market, while serving its stakeholders optimally. The department is involved in the promotion of a total quality philosophy through the adoption, development and deployment of internationally recognised quality standards and business excellence models in all SBUs within the Group. It also acts as a catalyst for change focusing on transformational changes: in a nutshell, the ultimate aim is to build a strong foundation based on world class standards, apply best in class practices, benchmark against others and better serve customers’ needs and expectations.

HEALTH & SAFETY
The Group recognises its responsibilities towards employees, public and local communities with regard to safety, health and environment issues arising from or in connection with its undertakings. The mission of the health and safety department is to ensure that all business units of the group are in compliance with relevant safety, health and environmental legislations and other requirements to which we subscribe. The department strives to continually improve upon performance by: • Providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. • Providing employees with the necessary information, training and supervision needed to ensure that safe working practices are adhered to. • Ensuring that all employees accept their responsibility to work safely by adhering to all safety rules and procedures. • Encouraging full and effective consultation between employee and management on all aspects of safety, health and environment.
